It looks as though a decision has finally been made on The Hobbit movies... Peter Jackson is slated to be director (RESULT), but in a further development there is a suggestion of a 'further sequel'.

There is much speculation as to what this could mean; possibly (and here's hoping) they are discussing creating a film based on some of Tolkiens' larger background works, such as the Silmarillion.

However there is also the unlucky chance that someone, somewhere thinks they have written a piece of fanfic that is worthy. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
